Alumna in the Spotlight: Ingrid Aguero

Current Occupation: EA SPORTS

Title: Video Game Artist

Your Academy at Coral Reef High School: Visual and Performing Arts (Art)

Your Favorite memory/activity about the Reef: Being on the Hockey Team with Mr. Menasche, eating lunch in the art room, hanging out with my cousin Amy.

After Graduation:
I attended the University of Central Florida, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in animation and a psychology minor, then went to graduate school at UCF's FIEA video game program, where I earned a Master of Science in Interactive Entertainment. In 2008, I was hired as a 3D environment artist at EA Sports in Orlando, FL. I've worked on AAA titles such as Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, NFL Madden, and NBA Live.

I enjoy traveling...my favorites being Alaska, Hawaii, and St. Marteen (visiting my cousin in Med School!). One of my highlights of visiting new places is finding the best places to eat, and this year I was finally able to visit California and eat some of their huge burritos everyone talks about. I'm also big on video games, particularly Call of Duty and wrecking people in Nuketown. When I'm not traveling, eating, or playing video games, I enjoy giving back by volunteering through EA where I've spent time drawing cartoons with pediatric patients and helped build gaming rooms for a domestic abuse shelter.

Alumna in the Spotlight: Jennifer Rodriguez Shaw

Current Occupation: Owner Proxima Secure Technologies

Title: Chief Operations Officer

Your Academy at the Reef: Business

Your Favorite Memory/Activity: Pep rallys, live performances at the auditorium, hanging out with friends

After Graduation:

After graduation I moved to Dallas, Texas to take classes then moved back to Miami and finished my Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management at Florida International University.  I worked in the Hospitality Industry for a few years during and after college (Fischer Island, Grove Isle Hotel and Spa, 94th Aero Squadron, and Kimpton Hotels).  During the financial recession, I lost my job and decided to take a Marketing Admin position for a Miami based company that has military contracts overseas in Afghanistan.

While I worked in Afghanistan, I worked in a very rigid working environment and it took a little adjusting to be one of very few females to work in this place.  Slowly, I kept getting promoted to Marketing Manager then General Manager.  While I was overseas I met my now husband and we worked very closely together.  In 2012, my husband and I decided to leave the company we were working for and start our own business called Proxima Secure Technologies in Dubai, UAE.  Since we started, it has been very successful and I am happy to have taken the risk.  During my vacations, I have been able to travel to Hong Kong, France, Australia, Africa, UK, and Bahamas.

Woh! Jennifer has established quite the life after high school. Congrats on your success!
