Alumnus in the Spotlight: Hugo Arenas

Current Occupation: Full-time graduate student (Law School)

Your Academy at Coral Reef High School: Visual and Performing Arts (Piano)

Your Favorite Memory/Activity about the Reef: Performing during the holidays and playing monopoly with Matt, Dani, and Ingrid during Mr. Wheeler's AP Government class.  Close runner-up: skipping class to eat at Samurai or Chili's.

After graduation:
I attended Florida International University and graduated with a double major in Political Science and International Relations. I lived in Spain (Madrid) for a year, during which I was able to travel throughout Europe.  After undergrad I worked for two years with a Florida state court judge as her judicial assistant.

In August 2010 I moved to New York City to attend law school at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.  In my first year of law school I was selected as a NYC Bar Association Diversity Fellow.  During my second year I worked in the Immigration Protection Unit of New York Legal Advise Group (NYLAG) and as a legal intern at Lambda Legal.

I’ve become quite involved in student life at Cardozo and presently I am serving as the Student Bar Association President (student government).  I am currently finishing up my last year of law school and will remain in NYC to work at the firm of Carter Ledyard & Milburn after graduation.
