Alumnus in the Spotlight: John V. Hinson Jr., MBA, CPA, CFE
Current Occupation: CPA/Forensic Accountant
Title: Senior Consultant in Ernst & Young’s Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services
practice.
Your Academy at Coral Reef High School: Performing Arts- Drama/Theatre
Your Favorite Memory/Activity about the Reef: Hanging out with the Drama clique,
Attending bible club during lunch, singing in the Gospel Choir, 1 big lunch break hour,
playing football (the short time that I did haha).
After Graduation: I attended Florida A&M University on a full academic scholarship where I majored in Accounting and Business Administration. While at FAMU, I completed a total of 5 internships at 2 Fortune 500 Companies and 2 Big 4 Accounting Firms. I also joined Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity to network and make lifelong friends. I graduated December 2009, Summa Cum Laude, with my Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. Upon graduation, I took a 9 month hiatus from life and studied and passed the Certified Public Accounting test in the first sitting. Upon
completion of the CPA, I moved to Atlanta Georgia and joined Ernst & Young’s Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services. Since then I have kept busy traveling the world for both personal and professional endeavors. I’ve been blessed to visit the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Canada, China, Mexico, and countless domestic locations. I recently took and passed the Certified Fraud Examiner test, which certifies me as a Forensic Accountant.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. And only in John fashion….I would like to leave you with a quote that a very inspirational figure in my life once told me “You gotta use what you got to get what you want”. So if that’s all you got, then you must not want much!!!!!!
